Amazing Puglian ceramics from the 1800-1900 century.
Hand painted floral motif in blue, is a symbol of the Puglia region, known as 'righe e stelle'.
The design where circles are combined to create rosettes or star formations dates back to the 1800s. The flowers were made with stencils, originally cut from sponges. Wine and water jugs from Puglia usually have the most extensive decorations and these one dates back to the mid 1800s.
